Porsche 987 Center Radiator, Low-temp Thermostat and Water Pump

Porsche 987 Center Radiator, Low-temp Thermostat and Water Pump

With the M97 engine and mid-engine configuration, cooling is critical during spirited driving on hot days and track days at any temperature in a Porsche Boxster/Cayman.   We installed a CFS center radiator, low-temp thermostat and new water pump to battle excessive heat.

How did it work out

To ensure a robust M97 engine, we installed a BILT/LN Engineering 2QT Deep Sump Oil Pan with X51-Style Baffle.    More oil to handle thermal stress, more lubrication, the better?

Porsche 987 Oil Pressure Gauge

Unfortunately, Porsche did not have an option to include oil pressure and oil temperature gauges.   Since oil starvation is a potential issue on M97 engines in cars with 200 thread wear tires and in turns with sustained g's,  X51-style baffle and oil pressure gauge can reduce the likelihood and provide an early warning, respectively.
